Holiday fun - new NaNo posts soon....

Taking a break from the NaNo stuff:

It's that time of year again, kiddies! It's time for my yearly letter to Santa*!

Owasso, Oklahoma,
United States

Dear Santa Claus,

My name is Heather. I am a girl and I am already 27 years old!! I live in the great city of Owasso. Of course, that's in Oklahoma, United States, but I'll bet you knew that!! This year I've been so good that I should be the angel on top of the tree!

Santa Claus, some things I might like for Christmas this year are:
- PlayStation 2 with Guitar Hero 3 pack;
- Laptop; and,
- David Tenant.

Santa Claus, I almost forgot to say... We've moved this year! For the first time, we have a real chimney. Don't worry, there won't be a fire lit when you stop by. ;)

Give my love to Mrs. Claus, the elves & the reindeer.

Love, Heather

Obviously, When you're as good as I have been (I even have the certificate to prove it ;D ), Santa just has to reply back personally:

HO!! Ho!! ho!! Heather!!

Thank you for sending me your email all the way from Owasso! Did you know that Owasso is one of Mrs. Claus' favourite places? The other thing she really likes is to read all your wonderful
emails. As a matter of fact, she was just asking if I had heard from you lately!

My goodness, Heather! Are you fibbing to ol' Santa Claus?!? You can't possibly be 27 years old already! Why it seems like only yesterday that I was leaving presents for a certain little girl and here you are now, practically one of Santa's elves! (*grin*)

Sorry the presents the last little while probably haven't been quite as exciting as they were when you were a little girl but, well, you know how these things go (*wink*). Anyway, Santa's glad to see some of the 'older kids' (not to mention anyone in particular!) still take the time to write. I also hear you've been a REALLY REALLY good girl. (Of course, you won't mind if I do
a little checking, will you? HO!! Ho!! ho!!). I'm glad you mentioned the reindeer because they're all outside playing reindeer games right now. Did you know you can even vote for which reindeer will guide my sleigh this Christmas? The elves are tickled you asked about them in your letter! They're all very happy and busy making presents right now. Of course, that's when they're not jumping into the present wrapping machine or telling silly jokes and singing songs!

Let's see what you put in your letter for Christmas wishes: 1. playstation 2 with guitar hero 3 pack; 2. laptop and; 3. David Tenant. HO!! Ho!! ho!! I see someone wants to send lots of emails to Santa with a laptop of their very own! Of course, we use a lot of computers at the North
Pole nowadays (it's quite a high tech operation you know!) and the elves can make only so many laptops each year so lets hope there are enough for everyone! Can I tell you a little secret? I love playing games on my PlayStation -- reindeer games that is! HO!! Ho!! ho!! They are a lot of fun aren't they! I guess that's why so many good little boys and girls asked for the same thing as you! I just wish there was room in my sleigh to give everyone one.

HO!! Ho!! ho!! Rudolph wants to take me for another test ride in the sleigh so I better get going! The new sleigh is 'Internet-equipped' so I can even send & receive emails Christmas Eve! I hope you'll come back to EmailSanta.com Christmas Eve to watch me go around the world!
Take care Heather and don't forget to come back and visit me here at EmailSanta.com on Christmas Eve!! And remember... only 41 more sleeps until Christmas!!

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas,
Santa Claus

P.S. Why thank you for the wonderful hugs & kisses Heather! Here are some extra special hugs and kisses just for you from everyone at the North Pole!

I promise updates tomorrow.

Until then, Peace out and Rock On!

Nano Day 9

Yeah, so I'm posting this a little late today. I got rolling on the idea and I needed to keep working on it. That means another two-parter, but it's so totally worth it.

I think this part may qualify as the first full chapter that I've written. I'm not even done with it yet, but I know where it's going to end. I think that means that day 10 is going to be a record-setting day for me. I can smell it from here. It smells like more.

Stats: 1276 words in 2 hours. That brings my total to 11076 words. I'm almost where I need to be. I'm planning a personal write-in on Monday for Veteran's Day. Hopefully I'll be over 15k by the end of the day. In addition to the novel, I'll also be editing together a "best of" for my fic journal as well as updates on all of my other journals. I may even find time for a couple of movies, we'll just see what happens.

It's almost goin' home time and I'm ready. I'm jumping right in bed.

Have a great day!

NaNo Days 5 thru 8

so, I didn't write as much as I would have hoped for, but I did write every day. I used the short scenes from Monday and Tuesday to influence my writing for Wednesday and Thursday since I wrote the first 2 days longhand. Day 7 is meant to be a continuation of day 5 and day 8 is the continuation of day 6.

I still have a little more to write to end the scene from days 6 & 8, but I think I'm going to save that for expansion time.

I'm amazed at how this story is writing itself. I think I've already changed a couple of major plot points based on what I've written. This world isn't as "black & white" as I had first imagined it. I can't wait to see where this takes me.

Updates soon....

I've got a massive quadruple-day NaNo post planned after midnight. I'm currently at a total word count of 8140 in a total of 14 hours not counting today. I'm on course to top 10,000 words by the end of the day. I'm catching back up with a vengeance.

But for now, bed....

Nano day 4

Another, even larger post about a single idea.

More tomorrow, but for now, bed.

NaNo Day 3

As promised, we're starting off with the kitten's name. Sorry for the cliffhanger from yesterday, but it was the only way it could be.

The bulk of today's writing is on the same thing. I'll actually have the second part of the section posted tomorrow, but it's mostly one of the "boring" parts to write. It's been like pulling teeth to get me to write the description, but it had to be done.

The count for this day is 1188 words in 2.25 hours which brings me to a grand total of 4593 words. I know I've go to pick up some speed, but I'll be able to catch a little more time on Monday and Tuesday.

Worklife update-y

The logging app is probably going to be down until after I leave for the day. I have plenty of writing time if I can get my rump in gear....

Nano day 2

So, day 2's writing introduced Jessie's cat. He has a name, but you'll have to wait for tomorrow's post to see it.

Other than that, I managed to get an impressive 1994 words today for a grand total of 3405. I'm still a little behind for the month, but I should be catching up soon.

So, we've got a schedule app outage tonight. Since my job is driven by that particular application, I'm going to be free until it comes back on. That should be sometime between 3 and 7 am.

Hopefully things will go smoothly and I'll be able to get my word count up. I should have a little more free time on Monday and Tuesday, so we'll see what happens.

Nano Day 1

So, it's the end of my first day of NaNoWriMo. My total word count was 1411 in a total writing time of 3 hours. That's a lot slower than I wanted to go, but I'm happy with what I've got. I keep telling myself that I can edit after the 30th, so just let the story take care of itself.

Most of my writing "time" wasn't purely devoted to writing, I usually have to do other things in between my fits of creativity. Although, I did log an impressive 1011 words between 2 & 3 in the morning. Of course, I lost almost 200 of those words when my machine locked up when I was trying to save the document. Thankfully, I was using OpenOffice so I was able to recover 834 words of the original. If it wasn't for the doc recovery feature, I probably would have quit from the frustration. I hoping to duplicate the above mentioned feat (the 1,000+ words in an hour, not the crash) repeatedly over the next few days. Hopefully I can make up for the time (and the words) I lost today.

6 days

I now have at least one messenger program that I can use while working & I'm ready to start writing. I only hope that I will be able to meet mt NaNo goal.

Oh Well, time will see....

I just looked at my new page and realized that it looks like the Postsecret site....

New Blog!

WOOHOO! I have a new blog that I can edit from work! Now all I need is someone who can make this a feed on LJ. Either that or I need to buy a paid account....
